Ogemaw Correctional Facility Release Search

To find someone released from Ogemaw County Correctional Facility, first determine whether the person returned to the community or moved to another authority. The county jail holds local detainees, sentenced people, and some people housed for other counties. A departure can therefore be bond release, sentence completion, court-ordered release, or a transfer. No official public Ogemaw County jail roster or recent-release feed was located. Direct confirmation comes from the facility, the county release record, and the receiving system when a transfer occurred. Each source answers a different part of the release question.

Ogemaw Facility Release Routes

Community release from the Ogemaw County Correctional Facility may follow bond, dismissal, sentence completion, or another court order when no hold remains. The person may instead be committed to MDOC, returned to another county, or transferred under federal or immigration authority. Death also ends a custody episode but is not a release to the community. The event recorded by the jail controls the description.

A bond release does not mean the charge was dismissed. It means the person left physical custody under the court’s terms after processing and any other holds were cleared. Time served ends the jail portion shown by the judgment, though another case could still control. Transfer ends Ogemaw custody but continues custody elsewhere. Those differences are important because a person’s name may vanish from a facility list while they remain confined.

The jail’s inmate release form and custody-movement entries are the core county records. A court order explains why release was authorized, but only the jail record shows whether processing ended in departure and at what time.

Confirm Ogemaw Facility Releases

No official public current roster, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, mugshot gallery, or sheriff app was located for the facility. The official county site provides contact and operating details instead. A reliable check therefore begins by calling the jail and ends with a written record when lasting proof is needed.

  1. Call 989-345-5908 with the full name, approximate booking date, and date of birth when known.
  2. Ask whether the last event was community release or transfer. Request the receiving authority if the record identifies one.
  3. Search MI-VINE by name or offender ID and read the exact event and listed agency. Do not turn “transfer” into “released.”
  4. Review the Ogemaw court case for a bond, dismissal, sentence, or other signed order that explains legal authority.
  5. Submit a focused county FOIA request for the booking card, custody movement, release form, bond entry, and nonexempt portions.

The official Ogemaw County Corrections page is the source for the facility contact and also shows why a public release feed should not be assumed.

Official Ogemaw County Correctional Facility release contact page

The county page routes a recent status question to the jail, while a durable release record follows the written request path described below.

A missing name proves little. Ogemaw publishes no official roster, and a county departure may be a transfer rather than community release.

Ogemaw Facility Records Contact

Sheriff Brian D. Gilbert’s Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office operates the jail. Administrative hours and facility staffing are different. The jail is staffed around the clock, while published administration hours are weekdays. Round-the-clock staffing does not prove that records staff are always available or that releases happen at a set hour.

Call before making a trip. No official source supplies a fixed release-processing hour, public waiting area, release doorway, or family pickup procedure. The facility’s 24-hour staffing cannot be converted into a promise that public services are available at all times.

Note: Ask for the last custody event and its authority, since “no longer here” does not distinguish release from transfer.

Request Ogemaw Release Records

The county’s online FOIA form is the current written route. A narrow request should identify the person, approximate booking date, and booking or incident number when known. Name the existing documents instead of asking staff to research and write a new account. The county is not required to create a compilation or answer questions.

A useful request asks for the booking card, admission date and time, release date and time, release type or authority, custody-transfer entries, inmate release form, property-release form, bond entry, and booking photograph. Request electronic delivery of nonexempt portions. If transfer is possible, also request the destination or receiving authority to the extent it is recorded and may be disclosed.

The county ordinarily responds within five business days by granting, denying, partly granting, or extending the response period. One extension of no more than ten business days is permitted. That clock governs the response, not necessarily final production. Under the county policy, standard letter or legal copies may cost up to $0.10 per sheet. Itemized labor, media, or mailing charges may apply. If expected cost exceeds $50, a good-faith deposit of generally no more than half the estimate may be requested.

Michigan GS-11 item 11.210 retains the jail inmate jacket until release plus ten years. The jacket can include the booking card, mugshot, sentence records, transfer material, court documents, property records, and inmate release form. That retention period is a government record rule. It is not an online visibility period.

Note: The five-day period governs the county’s response choice and does not promise final record delivery within five days.

Ogemaw Regional Transfer Releases

Ogemaw functions as a regional housing jail. The county’s 2024 operational narrative documents Oscoda County prisoners and inquiries from other counties. Thus, not every person inside the building is held only for an Ogemaw case. A departure can be a return to the originating sheriff, even when the person was physically booked or housed in West Branch.

When the county record says transfer, follow the named recipient. OTIS applies after MDOC intake, but it excludes someone sentenced only to county jail. Another county should be checked through that county’s sheriff or records unit. An ICE detainer leads to ICE’s locator for a recent immigration event. A federal movement may require the federal docket, USMS records, or the BOP locator after designation.

MI-VINE may send a transfer notice. Report it as departure from the listed Ogemaw facility and movement to another authority. The later receiving record is needed before stating the person’s next custody status. The complete Ogemaw County released-inmate lookup separates these county, state, and federal paths.

Ogemaw Facility Capacity History

The official facility description says planning began in 2006. The former Dean Arbor site was acquired in 2007, groundbreaking occurred in January 2009, an open house followed in June 2010, and the facility opened on September 26, 2010. County descriptions identify a podular-remote design with maximum, medium, and dormitory-style housing.

Two capacity figures appear in county material, and they can be reconciled. The rated design capacity was 124. MDOC recalculated it in 2017 by adding 20 beds, producing a capacity of 144. The later figure is not evidence that a second jail opened. It reflects a revised capacity for the same facility.

2010Facility opened
124Original rated capacity
144Capacity after 2017 recalculation

Population statistics are not release counts. The operational report separates total average population from Ogemaw-only averages because regional residents are housed there. Neither number should be used to estimate how many people left custody during a day, month, or year.

Ogemaw Bond and Release Processing

The facility publication says bond can be paid at the courthouse during business hours. After hours, or at the jail, payment may be made through the lobby kiosk or JailATM. A person signing as a third party must tell staff and complete the third-party bond section. These are payment channels, not a general bond schedule or a guarantee of immediate release.

The case-specific court order controls the amount and conditions. Another case, warrant, or detainer may still block direct release after payment. Pair the order from the 82nd District Court route with the jail timestamp when confirming the actual event. Do not infer that the person walked out at the time money was submitted.

Work release and the weekender program also require jail-administrator approval. They remain custody programs and are not final discharge. A person may leave for an approved purpose and return under the program. The final release record should show when the jail’s custody ended.

Note: Bond payment, work release, and a weekender placement each differ from a completed community release from jail custody.

Ogemaw Release Property Records

Facility rules state that rejected mail and some disallowed items are placed in the inmate property bag for receipt on release. The inmate jacket can also contain a property-release form. No fixed post-release property pickup process was found, so call the facility before travel. Do not assume the lobby can release property at any hour merely because custody staff are present.

A property form can corroborate part of the release process, but it is not a substitute for the inmate release form. One documents the handling of belongings. The other records the custody-ending event or transfer authority. Request both when the sequence matters.

For direct community release, the final proof is the county release record. For an MDOC transfer, follow the state intake and OTIS record. For a return to another county, ask that jurisdiction for its receiving status. Keeping those records distinct prevents an Ogemaw departure from being reported as freedom when another authority still holds the person.
